For those that are employed in the documentary film and/or television arena, New York Women in Film and Television have put together a great event calendar for the month of March. NYWIFT offer two case studies on the documentaries By the People: The Election of Barack Obama and Yoo-Hoo, Mrs. Goldberg. Also their regular monthly series that addresses a variety of digital topics, Digi-Dynamics, covers Using Stock Footage in a Digital Age on March 15th. Case Study: By the People: The Election of Barack Obama (March 10th) will include a screening and post discussion with the filmmakers and editors. Docs Can Make Money: Case Study of Yoo-Hoo, Mrs. Goldberg (March 23rd) will bring the filmmaker and public relations agent of the film to show clips talk about the distribution model and PR outreach that assisted in the movie's success.
You don't have to be a member either to attend. It does cost a little more if you're not (and it's a great organization to be a part of), but the cost is actually pretty reasonable for what you get, member or non-member. See you there.
