A terrific evening of art auction, spoken word performances and of curse, Artfully Unforgotten's Voices of Afghanistan book launch. All auctioned artwork was created by Regis High School students and their art instructor, Miss Robyn Prezioso. Student artists included Brian Dunlop, Nate Hahn, David Desrosiers, Zach esposito, Sam Flinn, Conor Jones, Phil kennedy, Christian kinsella, Christian Landeros, Myles Phillips, Robert Marrero, Anthony Santoro, Christopher Scheiner, James Sheridan, Aidan Tansey and Walter Tyrna. Every piece was bid on so many attendees left with their own original art piece. Heather Metcalfe (AU's Founder/Executive Director) and Jim Olivo (AU's Treasurer) spoke and presented the Artfully Unforgotten produced Voices of Afghanistan film short to Regis High School students earlier this year to use as inspiration for the artwork eventually sold at this evening's auction.
The spoken word artists really were very powerful and composed work specifically for this series. Spoken word performers were Phyllis Talley, Mari-Elizabeth Mali, Justin Woo, Cassie Madden, Nina Spierer, Tahani Salah and Victoria Mccoy.
The book launch was also a success and for those of you who couldn't make it out tonight, the book is available to purchase on the at www.artfullyunforgotten.com website. The video short, Voices of Afghanistan will be available for viewing on AU's site and youtube page in the coming weeks as well.
