Athena Film Festival focuses on women's leadership / by KirstenStudio

The first annual Athena Film Festival takes place February 10th through the 13th at Bernard College in Manhattan.  The line up includes features, documentaries and a group of shorts.  Kim Longinotto's, Pink Saris will be screened here if you didn't catch it at DOC NYC, which I didn't and plan on catching this time around.  Miss Representation by Jennifer Siebel Newsom looks interesting and it makes its New York City debut at Athena. Poster Girl, a documentary short by Sara Nesson, that follows a female war veteran who returns from service to rebuild her life and find redemption.  There's an interesting schedule of screenings for Athena.  Panels aren't listed yet, but I'll keep my eye on their site. Athena Film Festival aims to examine the values women leaders share—vision, courage, resilience—and explore leadership across race, class, and culture. The Athena Film Festival is founded by  Kathryn Kolbert and founded and produced by Melissa Silverstein.
