The 3rd annual New York City EditFest NY is just weeks away. For both aspiring and established editors and filmmakers alike, this event is a good way to absorb the art and techniques of editing from a wide range of cutters. From animation, to documentary to narrative feature, EditFest has a panel with something for everyone as well as opportunities to meet editors in person at the EditFest mixers. American Cinema Editors (A.C.E.) and the Manhatten Edit Workshop, among other sponsors will host this weekend festival on editing. EditFest NY 2011 will take place on June 10th and 11th.
Last year I blogged about the panels. This year proves to have a new variety of subjects to keep it fresh. My experience has been from attending the previous two years is that A.C.E. and MEWSHOP keep to the core mission of addressing the art of storytelling but each year approach it from different angles and genres and so far it seems to work well.
We'll see what this year brings. I know I'm definitely looking foward to a few specific panels, such as The Documentary Edit: Finding the Moment, Greatest Movies You Never Saw among others.
EditFest NY 2011 will be held at the DGA Theatre again at 110 West 57th Street, New York, NY.
