Monday night Elizabeth Vargas will moderate a panel following the presentation of the Living in Emergency: Stories of Doctors Without Borders documentary that is incidentally on the Oscar short list for 2009. Earlier this year I saw Dr. James Orbinski, the former President of Doctor's Without Borders (MSF), speak to promote his book, An Imperfect Offering: Humanitarian Action in the Twenty-First Century. Just hearing him describe his experiences was incredibly jarring but yet inspiring. Bringing stories of other doctors that are part of this organization to video will no doubt leave an impact and from what I've heard it's a very well done film. The screening on 12/14/09 will be at Skirball Center for Performing Arts on the NYU campus. It will also be broadcast live so if you haven't already bought tickets, check them out on your tube of choice.
