My archival discipline is multifaceted, encompassing the technical aspects of preservation and restoration, as well as a creative process. With independent film, the work stands on its own but necessitates an advocate and storyteller to reintroduce it to audiences. Preservation activities go beyond safeguarding the medium's integrity; they involve developing an understanding of the artist and their work, contextualizing the unique origin story of each motion picture, as well as its resurrection. Additionally, the act of producing restorations is equal parts precise mechanical nuance and artisanal practice.

Through these ideals I aim to further an appreciation for the timeless nature of the art form, underscore the repercussions of its increasing fragility, and propose a more profound engagement with the work itself.

These methods serve to bolster the long-term sustainability of artists and contribute to a more diverse cinematic record, expanding the resources available for future access.

Audiovisual and Related Legacy Media:

Surveys audiovisual and ephemeral collections for the purpose of assessing archival, preservation, restoration, distribution, and exhibition potential and need.

Consults with individuals, independent artists and filmmakers with personal and professional collections to preserve and restore at risk media. Considers environmental risk, levels of degradation and materials confined to obsolete mediums in need of digital iterations, or newly created film assets.

Implements and manages preservation and archiving projects from development to completion.

Fosters ongoing relationships between individual and archival institutions, which support artists’ work and its accessibility.

Collaborates with artists, filmmakers, archives, other organizations, and professionals to develop short and long-term goals, revitalize and reintroduce motion picture and related materials lost to time, industry and conditions.

Simple guidance through an archiving and/or preservation processes as needed.
